The rules of using Emisi
Last updated: 22 September 2026
1. Who we are, and what these terms cover
Emisi (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a marketplace connecting buyers with independent sourcing agents (“OGs”) who source and deliver goods on request. These Terms govern your use of Emisi as a buyer or an OG. Creating an account means you agree to them.

2. What Emisi is - and isn't
Emisi is a marketplace that connects buyers with independent OGs. We don't sell the goods you request, and we're not the OG who sources and delivers them. Each OG operates independently - Emisi verifies their identity and sets a worth-based limit on how large an order they can take on, but we don't inspect, own, or guarantee the specific items an OG sources.
What Emisi does provide: a structured way to request items, receive and compare competing offers, pay with your money held rather than handed over upfront, track an order through to delivery, and raise a dispute with a human admin reviewing it if something goes wrong.
3. Accounts and eligibility
- You must provide accurate account information and keep your login details secure.
- One account per person. You're responsible for activity that happens under your account.
- To act as an OG, you must complete identity verification (a government-issued ID and a selfie, at minimum) before you can accept orders. Verification decisions and your starting “OG Worth” are made by an Emisi admin, not automatically.
4. How an order works
- A buyer posts what they need, with a budget.
- Verified OGs submit competing offers; the buyer can accept, counter, or decline any of them.
- Accepting an offer locks in the price. The buyer pays the full amount at that point - the goods budget, plus Emisi's service fee and a delivery fee, both shown before you pay.
- That payment is held, not paid out to the OG, while the OG sources and delivers the item.
- Once the buyer confirms delivery, the held funds are released to the OG (minus Emisi's fee). If the buyer doesn't confirm and doesn't raise a dispute, the order can be auto-confirmed after a set period.
5. Fees and payment
Emisi charges a service fee and a delivery fee on top of the item budget - both shown in full before you pay, on every order. These rates are set by Emisi and may change between orders; what you see at checkout is what you pay for that order.
Emisi's current payment method is manual bank transfer: you transfer funds to Emisi's own bank account and report the transfer, which an admin verifies against our bank statement before your order proceeds. Card payment is not active at this time.
6. Cancellations and refunds
A buyer can cancel an order for a full refund any time before an OG has been paid for it - while it's still awaiting an offer, just after an offer's been accepted, or while payment is still pending. Once payment is confirmed and sourcing has begun, an order can no longer be cancelled outright; from that point, a problem with the order is handled through a dispute instead (§8).
Refunds are processed by an admin as a bank transfer back to the buyer and are not instant - we aim to handle them promptly, but this is a manual step, not an automated one, at this stage.
7. Reviews
A buyer may leave one rating and review per completed order, which cannot be edited afterward. Emisi can hide a review that violates these Terms (e.g. abusive content or clearly unrelated to the order), but doesn't edit review content, and hiding a review doesn't change what actually happened on the order.
8. Disputes
Either the buyer or the OG can raise a dispute once an order reaches delivery - describing what went wrong, with evidence if there is any. An Emisi admin reviews the order's full history (offers, payment, status changes) and resolves it one of three ways: refund the buyer in full, release the held funds to the OG as normal, or split the outcome with a partial refund. This decision is final within Emisi's own process; it doesn't affect your right to pursue the matter elsewhere if you disagree with it.
9. Conduct
- Don't use Emisi for anything illegal, or to source goods you know to be illegal.
- Don't attempt to pay an OG, or accept payment as an OG, outside the platform to avoid fees - this also removes the protection the held-funds system gives both sides.
- Don't misrepresent your identity, an item, or an order's status.
- Don't attempt to abuse, circumvent, or overload the platform's systems.
10. Suspension and termination
We may warn, suspend, or remove an account that violates these Terms, including an OG's account for conduct that damages buyer trust (handled through Emisi's penalty system, with an audit trail for every action). You can stop using Emisi at any time; existing orders still need to be resolved through completion, cancellation, or dispute rather than simply abandoned.
11. Limitation of liability
Emisi facilitates the connection, negotiation, and payment between buyers and OGs, but isn't a party to the underlying sale of goods and doesn't guarantee an OG's performance beyond the verification and worth-limit system described above. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Emisi's liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount actually paid for that order.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as Emisi evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above - continuing to use Emisi after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
